Do NOT start your cancer treatment without reading this...

Antioxidants and cancer have an important relationship.

Science has pretty much proven that cancer is the result of years of free radical damage to whichever area is affected. Obviously then, the best thing to do is to PREVENT the damage in the first place by having lots of antioxidants in your cells. The best way to beat cancer is to prevent it to begin with, since by the time you have symptoms, there's been 10-20 years of damage already.

But what if you're already diagnosed?

The goal of cancer treatment is to kill the cancer cells without killing the patient- easier said than done. Chemo & radiation creates huge amounts of free radicals, which is what leads to the toxic side effects. In fact, many patients die from the treatment as opposed to the cancer itself.

Most oncologists don't want their patients taking antioxidants or vitamins because in theory it might decrease the effectiveness of the treatment.

However, the opposite seems to be true.

By having your body working optimally through proper nutrition, it is better able to handle the side effects. And the antioxidants seem to concentrate more in the healthy cells as opposed to the cancer cells, so there is less side effects from free radical damage in the healthy cells, while the cancer cells are still killed by the treatment.

There is plenty of research and anecdotal evidence that people taking high quality nutritional supplements, including optimal doses of antioxidants have at least equal, if not better outcomes as far as killing the cancer cells AND they tolerate the treatment MUCH better than those not taking them.
